Bueno este es un problema que tiene ubuntu, kubuntu, edubuntu y otros distros similares esto se debe a una actualizacion del xorg.conf estos ya no la utilizan y hay que crear uno aqui les dejo una solucion:
recuerden yo pongo las claves para kubuntu si uitilizan otro las cambian (ej. Kate en kubuntu gedit en ubuntu, o kdesudo y gksudo?
abren terminal si quieren copian y pegan.
Kdesudo kate /etc/X11/xorg.conf
recuerden la x en mayuscula la terminal es sensible a mayusculas y minusculas
copian esta info:

guardan y reinician si este Xorg funciono para su hardware perfecto pero si no funciona no va a encender en modo grafico ya q las Xs no van a funcionar entonces entran desde el grub en recovery mode despues en droop to shell
y escriben los siguientes comandos
sudo -rf /etc/X11/xorg.conf
o tambien lo pueden borrar asi
sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
cualquiera de las dos opciones funcionan luego
sudo reboot
recuerden anotar estos ultimos comandos en un papel.
