[Guide] Changing fonts Empty [Guide] Changing fonts

There are several ways to change the font on your android phone. This guide will show how to do so using adb or with [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. After reading this guide, you can decide which is easier for you. This guide assumes you have android-sdk already setup. If not, see [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for help.

    ## Both methods for rooted phones only ##

    Method 1: using adb

    1. Find a TrueType Font that you like. For this purpose, I am using [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] as an example. Ideally, you want to have a bold version and a regular version of whichever font you choose. If you find a font that does not have a bold version, you can just use the regular version and just make another copy.

    2. Rename the regular and bold fonts you found to DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf, respectively. Place both both .ttf files in your sdk/tools folder. (ex. C:\Android\android-sdk-windows\tools)

    3. Download the Fonts.rar file attached to the bottom of this post and extract Fonts.bat to your sdk/tools folder. (ex. C:\Android\android-sdk-windows\tools)

    5. Double click the Fonts.bat file and follow the prompts.

Your command prompt should look something like the screenshot below when done:

    Method 2: using MetaMorph

    1. Find a TrueType Font that you like. For this purpose, I am using [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] as an example. Ideally, you want to have a bold version and a regular version of whichever font you choose. If you find a font that does not have a bold version, you may use the regular version and just make two copies.

    2. Rename the regular and bold fonts you found to DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf, respectively.

    3. Download the ChangingFont.zip template attached to this post and open the file with WinRar (or WinZip).

    4. Place the two font files from step 2 into the fonts folder (ChangingFonts/fonts). A popup should say "Adding names and paramaters", just click ok. Now exit WinRar.

    5. Copy the newly modified ChangingFont.zip into the root of your sd card, unmount sd card, then apply with MetaMorph.

    Notes:

-- Some pretty good free fonts can be found at [URL="http://www.dafont.com/"]dafont.com[/URL]
-- The next guide will show you how to get any font to show up correctly on your phone, meaning you won't see three box squares and incorrect characters on main menu.
-- This .bat file requires a window pc and sdk/tools path of C:\Android\android-sdk-windows\tools. You can still use the bat file if you have a different path, you will just have to open it with notepad then change the paths to match your own.
-- Let me know if you need any further clarification or if I made any mistakes and I will adjust asap.
